Heroes and Heritage
This past spring, I had the opportunity to create some commissioned artwork for the Heroes and Heritage Exhibit at the Minneapolis Central Library. I decided to create a photo montage that honored the life of Gideon Pond, one of the early settlers to what was then the Minnesota territory. Gideon Pond came to the Minnesota territory in 1834 and played an instrumental role in the interactions with the Dakota, the Native Americans who lived the area. He helped create a written language for the Dakota. His home is still standing. It sits on a bluff overlooking the Minnesota River in Bloomington MN.
The Heroes and Heritage Exhibit is at the Cargill Exhibit Hall at the Minneapolis Central Library. The exhibit will be on display from June 11th to August 22, 2015.
